Vikings Never Stop - Athletic Awards
The Athletic Department was pretty busy today (probably seemed like a good idea at the time) as we ran from one event to the next. The LRE students challenged the entire student body to be on time to school as well as every class the last week of the 3rd grading period. Tickets for donuts and juice were handed out to those students who met that goal (and were not in ISS at any time during the week) to be redeemed as they entered this morning. There were 277 students eligible and over 240 of them stopped to receive their incentive on their way in. We also made a special delivery to Mr. Brown - because who has better attendance than him?? We fielded a lot of inquiries from students who did not receive the ticket about how they could get one and they were encouraged to participate in our May challenge.
This evening we recognized our winter athletes at their banquet. Big thanks to Lisa Lin, Jaimee Merrell and Aylena Rush for their assistance. We had more parents in attendance than we have ever had and everyone left full and happy. Obviously wrestlers are no longer watching their weight as they were giddy with the buffet style meal and barely put down their forks to be recognized for their accomplishments which I have listed below.
Finally, we ended the evening by officially kicking off our spring sports home events by hosting Firestone for a boys volleyball JV matchup. Was it too much to ask for a quick, drama free game? Yes, yes it was. The Vikings split the first 2 games with the Falcons and forced them into a tie breaker which they won in crowd-pleasing, exciting fashion - in overtime.
