BEST Medicine Engineering Fair

Five North students participated in The University of Akron's BEST (Bridging Engineering, Science, Technology) Medicine Fair March 10 at the NIHF-STEM school.

Four freshmen have been staying after school every Wednesday since early November to work on their projects. We had undergraduate students from the Biomed Dept. at UA come and help our students each week.

Pradip Chauhan, Nitash Dahal, and Prabin Magar (freshmen) redesigned a shin guard to be more effective and more cost effective.

Bobongo Mondongo (freshman) investigated art's effect on heart rate and made suggestions for where this information could be used, particularly in schools.

From the ACH's Academy of Health and Human Services we had Nul Rai (junior), who investigated improving delivery methods for medical fluids. Nul won a special award for technical equipment, which added $50 to his $20 he received for participating!

Each student received $20 cash for participating. All of these students, plus hopefully many, many more, are encouraged to participate again next year, as BEST Medicine is a 6-12th engineering fair.
